Theory of Contract Law

In this course, Dr Nick Sage (LSE) explores the theory of contract law. In the first module, we introduce the theory of contract. In the second module, we discuss some of the leading families of contract theory. In the third module, we examine these theories further in light of the doctrine of offer and acceptance. Finally, in the fourth module, we look at the doctrine of consideration.

Theory of Contract

In this module, we introduce the meaning of and reasons for a theory of contract law, focusing in particular on (i) the meaning of a theory (ii) reasons to have a theory of contract (iii) two main features of a good theory of contract as espoused by Ronald Dworkin.
