Statistics for Psychologists – Correlation and Regression
In this course, Dr Andrew Bell (King’s College London) explores regression analysis. In the first lecture, we think about the role of correlation and regression in statistics. In the second lecture, we think about what correlation can tell us about relationships within a dataset and the involvement of Pearson’s r. Next, we think about simple linear regression and what it can tell us about relationships within a dataset, beyond purely correlational insights. Introducing Correlation and Regression
In this lecture, we think about the role of correlation and regression in data analysis, focusing in particular on: (i) recapping the function and power of the student’s t-test; (ii) recapping the function and power of the ANOVA; (iii) the use of correlation and regression when querying whether there is a meaningful relationship between two sets of data; (iv) defining correlation as the strength of the relationship between two variables; (v) defining regression as enabling a researcher to see whether the value of one variable can be predicted based on the value of another.
