Slang
In this course, Jonathan Green discusses slang. In the first module we introduce slang. In the second module, we look at language and slang. In the third module we look at slang’s history and development, before turning to the creators of slang on the margins of society in the fourth module. In the fifth module, we consider Partridge and the etymology of slang. In the sixth module we look at ways of qualifying slang. Finally in the seventh module, we consider the future of slang.

In this module, we introduce slang, focusing in particular on (i) slang as a counter language (ii) slang and humour (iii) the human element of slang (iv) the darker side of slang (v) slang and the id.
