Letters and Speeches

In this course, Dr Guyanne Wilson (UCL) explores letters and speeches. In the first module, we introduce letters and speeches. In the second module, we look at formal letters. In the third module, we consider informal letters. In the fourth module we explore speeches, and in the fifth module look at techniques you can use to write your own speech. In the sixth and final module we recap things to consider to write an effective letter or speech.

In this module, we introduce letters and speeches, focusing in particular on (i) the contexts of letter and speech writing (ii) functions of letters and speeches (iii) formal and informal types (iv) differences between letters and speeches (v) political speech analysis.
