About the lecture

In this module, we think about audience and purpose in non-fiction texts as they relate to form, focusing on: (i) how to think about type, audience and purpose, (ii) what a non-fiction text is, (iii) 'truth' in non-fiction, especially in ads and persuasive writing, and (iv) different types of non-fiction writing, from diaries to newspapers to literary non-fiction.

About the lecturer

Ailsa Grant Ferguson is Principal Lecturer in the School of Humanities and Social Science at the University of Brighton. Her research focuses on Early Modern literature and culture and their afterlives in the 20th and 21st centuries. Her most recent project focused on The Shakespeare Hut, a performance space for New Zealand ANZACs on leave in England.
