About the lecture

In this lecture, we introduce the origins of the UK’s climate and weather patterns. We move on to highlight the impact of weather on daily activities, industries and even emotions. We demonstrate the origin of the UK’s temperate oceanic climate, characterised by mild winters, warm summers and consistent rainfall. We then take a look at the influence of prevailing wind directions, geographical features and urban heat islands on the temperature and climate in different regions of the UK.
