About the lecture

In this mini-lecture, we discuss Topics 2.3 and 2.6 by recalling how to expand brackets and factorise. In particular, we consider: (i) examples of various approaches to expanding brackets; (ii) how to expand brackets using FOIL (first, outer, inner, last); (iii) how to expand brackets with methods other than FOIL; (iv) factorising, which is the reverse operation of expanding brackets; and (v) examples of factorising.
