About the lecture
In this module, we will focus on what economic growth is. In particular, we will look at: (i) defining economic growth and recent trends in growth, including ow this can be represented on a Production Possibility Frontier and Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply diagram; (ii) what cause economic growth in the short run, including a look at the different components of aggregate demand; and (iii) what causes economic growth in the long-run, including how this can be represented on a Production Possibility Frontier and Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply diagram.
About the lecturer
Silvia Dal Bianco is a lecturer in Economics at University College London. Her specialist areas include applied and international economics as well as macroeconomics. She has published widely on these topics, including 'Closing Technological Gaps to Alleviate Poverty: Evidence from 17 Sub-Saharan African Countries' (Technological Forecasting and Social Change, 2020) and Central Bank Digital Currencies: aims, mechanisms and macroeconomic impact in The Economics of Cryptocurrencies (2020).
