About the lecture
In this lecture, we think about how pharmacological and psychological interventions can complement each other in treatment, focusing in particular on: (i) the case where anxiety may be so overwhelming that addressing the psychological issues may not be possible unless some of the symptoms are alleviated pharmacologically; (ii) the role of psychological therapies in helping patients cope with the side effects of pharmacological treatments; (iii) combining theory from both the medical and psychosocial models to best understand mental health; (iv) neural plasticity, the physical remapping of the brain, which can be impacted through behaviour.
