BIOGRAPHY

Dr James Ryan is a Reader in Modern Russian History in the School of History, Archaeology and Religion at Cardiff University. His research focuses on the period between the two world wars, with a particular interest in the violence of the Soviet State. His most recent publication is ‘The politics of national history: Russia's ruling elite and the centenary of 1917’ in Leonard, C. S., Orlovsky, D. and Petrov, J. eds. The Russian Revolution of 1917: Memory and Legacy (2024).
