BIOGRAPHY

Professor William Beinart was Rhodes Professor of Race Relations, chair of the board of the Journal of South African Studies and director of the African Studies Centre at the University of Oxford. In 2015, Professor Beinart co-authored the Edexcel A-Level text book on South African history. Some of Professor Beinart’s recent publications include that textbook: ‘South Africa, 1948-94: From Apartheid State to ‘Rainbow Nation’’ (2015) with Ed Teversham, as well as ‘Prickly Pear: The Social History of a Plant in the Eastern Cape’ (2012) with Luvuyo Wotshela.
