BIOGRAPHY

James Robinson is the Reverend Dr. Richard L. Pearson Professor of Global Conflict Studies at the Harris School of Public Policy, University of Chicago. He specialises in the field of political and economic development and the relationships between political power, institutions and prosperity. With this topic in mind, he has researched and collected data from a number of countries, including Bolivia, Colombia, Haiti, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria and Sierra Leone. He co-authored (with Daron Acemoglu) the influential books - Economic Origins of Dictatorship and Democracy (2006) and Why Nations Fail: The Origins of Power, Prosperity, and Poverty (2012) which has been translated into 32 languages since its publication.
