Brexit
In this course, Dr. Thomas Sampson (London School of Economics) looks at the economic effects of Brexit on the UK economy. In the first module, we look at the history of European integration in relation to the UK from 1951 to 2015. After this, we explore the theory behind the gains from trade. Then, we have a look at what Brexit means. In the fourth module, we discuss how the UK economy will be affected by leaving the EU. Finally, we look at how Brexit has affected the UK economy so far.
European Integration and the United Kingdom, 1951-2015
In this module, we look at the history of European integration in relation to the UK from 1951 to 2015. In particular, we will focus on: (i) what the EU is; (ii) the political and economic goals of the EU; (iii) the different institutions of EU, including a discussion of the Single Market and Customs Union; (iv) the history of integration and how the EU created the Single Market; and (v) immigration within the EU.
