What does MASSOLIT do?

MASSOLIT works with university academics to create short video lectures for secondary school students.

In the past nine years, we have worked with over 350 academics from the world's best universities (including Oxford, Cambridge, Stanford, Harvard and Yale) and have created more than 4,000 lectures.

In 2020, our lectures were watched by more than 500,000 students from almost 1,000 schools in 50+ countries. We are currently used by one in six secondary schools in the UK.

Since we get asked a lot ... the name of the company comes from the name of the writer's union in Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita, which is a satirical novel about life in Stalinist Russia.

Who are we?

MASSOLIT was founded in 2013 by Chris Tudor. Before starting MASSOLIT in September 2013 he worked as a Strategy Consultant, and before that he read Classics at Oxford. In his spare time, he writes commentaries on Homer.

He is supported by a number of staff, including:

MASSOLIT ANNOUNCES PHYSICS AND CHEMISTRY
Online educational resource MASSOLIT is launching two new subject collections on 24 January 2022: Physics and Chemistry. Having added Sociology in September 2021, this is the company's second and third new subject of the year, and the first focused on the sciences.

To create this content, MASSOLIT has worked with world-leading academics including Professor Joanna Haigh CBE (Professor Emerita of Atmospheric Physics, Imperial College London), Professor James McCullagh (Director of the Mass Spectrometry Research Facility, University of Oxford) and Professor David Wineland (Winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics 2012).

Founder Chris Tudor said: "We have been working on our Physics and Chemistry content for well over a year now, and have filmed some incredible academics in that time, including Professor David Wineland, winner of the 2012 Nobel Prize for Physics, and Professor Jens Gundlach, winner of the 2021 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics."

"While MASSOLIT has previously focused on the arts and humanities, this next batch of courses shows that our mini-lecture format works just as brilliantly for the sciences."

Each new subject is launching with an initial batch of twenty courses, with many more to come in the coming months.
