About the lecture
In this lecture, we explore how forensic psychologists can assist police with the interviewing process, focusing in particular on: (i) assisting memory, including the use of the ‘cognitive interview’; (ii) conversation management, including building rapport and using open questions; (iii) detecting deception, including being aware of false allegations and false confessions.
About the lecturer
Although internationally known for introducing scientific psychology into ‘offender profiling’ and developing the field of Investigative Psychology beyond those origins, Prof. David Canter has a wide range of interests including his continuing work in Environmental Psychology.
