BIOGRAPHY

Dr Jonathan Healey is an Associate Professor in Social History at the University of Oxford. He is an expert on early modern social history and the history of the English Civil War and Revolution, in particular the English poor and poor laws. His recent publications include his recent, major new history of the Seventeenth Century, The Blazing World: A New History of Revolutionary England (2023) and The First Century of Welfare: Poverty and Poor Relief in Lancashire, 1620-1730 (2014).
